Dr. Amer-Ouali earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Université de Montréal in 2008 and went on to practice hospital-based dentistry through the multidisciplinary residency program at Hôpital Notre-Dame, where he developed a passion for surgery. He later completed his specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center in New York and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in this specialty.
